Hi, I’m Kim. Welcome to my website.

This is a place where I can show you the very special cottage I live in, created with a lot of love and a little magic.

One of the things I wanted to do was keep its cosy, even old-fashioned feel Somehow, to modernise it and treat it with a minimal style, even though that was how my last home was, seemed wrong. I felt that would be disrespectful to the cottage and its previous occupants. I wanted to keep the cosy feeling like that portrayed in the ‘The Holiday’ movie, and add comfortable furniture, nice country pictures, cushions, and have loads of cottagey stuff. I wanted to open the door, put my feet on the door mat and really ‘feel’ that I was home, that I had left the busy, fast, crazy world outside and had been transported to slower time from the past.

It was just when I was beginning to put this ‘pretty, chintzy, pink’ style from my imagination into action, when it was taken away. For almost six years I had to wait to fulfil my dreams for the cottage, and by the time we moved back, I was a different person and that style didn’t fit with me anymore. I had had six years of creativity accumulating in my mind to put into action and I pink chintz just wasn’t going to cut it!  Today, the décor style is something else altogether and I and everyone who visits, loves what it has become.

So, my cottage is over 400 years old with a thatched roof, lovely old oak beams, low ceilings, a cosy fireplace, a quirky kitchen, a fantasy bathroom and it’s filled to the brim with all sorts of treasures. It’s semi-detached and on quite a busy road into the neighbouring market town, but it still has lovely, if noisy surroundings.

When we moved in, everything, and I mean every wall, ceiling, cupboard interior was painted white, now there’s hardly a bit of plain white to be seen anywhere, except for the bath and the kitchen sink! With the help of my husband’s DIY expertise, even when bewildered by my, let’s say… unusual ideas, he eventually gets on board, and together we’ve created a very special home.

Anyway, I’d love to share my beautiful home in all its quirkiness, with you. Perhaps you can be inspired to experiment with your own creativity perhaps be a little bit daring and push your own boundaries.
